The High Kings - Kulturkirche Köln - 22.10.2013

Spontan, spontan!

Als ich heute Morgen aufwachte, bin ich nicht davon ausgegangen, dass der Tag so enden würde.
Um 14 Uhr ruft plötzlich mein Bruder an und fragt, ob ich heute Abend schon was vor hätte. Natürlich nicht waren meine Pläne im Bett liegen, Tee trinken und lesen, doch dann winkte er mit einem zusätzlichen Ticket für mich für das High Kings Konzert.
Die Folk Band gehört zu den Lieblingsbands meines Bruders und meines Vaters und ist eigentlich gar nicht mein Musikschema, jedoch gefiele mir Live-Ausschnitte, die mein Bruder mir gezeigt hatte.
Also dachte ich mir: Warum nicht?
Um halb 5 gings los Richtung Köln. 45 Minuten später standen wir mitten in Köln Nippes und wussten nicht, was wir machen sollten. Also entschieden wir uns essen zu gehen. Nach verdrückter Pizza und Nudeln machten wir uns auf zur Kirche. Es war nicht voll, wir konnten direkt rein und fanden unsere Plätze dann in der 4. Reihe. Nach einer mühsamen Stunde des Warten gings dann los.
Die Jungs starteten mit "Rocky Road to Dublin". Die Stimmung war direkt gut, doch alle brauchten ein bisschen um reinzukommen. Da stand ich also zwischen meinem Vater und meinem Bruder, die voll abgingen und ich, kannte so gut wie keinen Song. Die Refrains kannte ich, natürlich, doch den Rest nicht. Die Jungs gingen gut ab und lieferten eine super Show ab, besonders in musikalischer Hinsicht. Da ich selber Gitarre spiele, bin ich mit guter Gitarrenmusik schnell zu begeistern. Darren war relativ ruhig und konzentriert auf die Musik, was mir sehr gut gefiel. Brian ging richtig ab, rannte durchs Publikum und hatte einfach nur Spaß. Finbarr und Martin hatten ebenfalls Spaß und lieferten eine gute Show ab. Nach 1 1/2 Stunden reiner Musik ging das Konzert dann zu Ende. Nach vielen "Zugaben" Rufen, kamen sie noch mal wieder und spielten "Irish Rover" und beendeten damit den Abend. Anschließend konnte man die Jungs noch vorne im Eingangsbereich treffen, Bilder machen und kurz mit ihnen quatschen. Die Jungs stellten sich als super sympathisch jedoch recht klein heraus. Brian (oben) hat, direkt nachdem ich gefragt hab, sogar ein zweites Bild mit mir gemacht, weil das erste einfach echt schlecht war.:D

Alles in allem war der Abend super. Es hat Spaß gemacht, die Jungs waren super sympathisch und ich würde sie mir auf jeden Fall noch mal live anschauen.

When I woke up today I didn't expected the day to turn out that way. At 2 pm I got a call from my brother asking what I was going to do tonight. I told him that I hadn't planned anything so he came up with a ticket for the tonight show of the High Kings in Cologne. My brother and my dad are very big fans of the irish folk band and I had just seen a lot of live performances on youtube because my brother wanted to show me all of them. So 3 hours later I sat in the car on my way to Cologne. 45 minutes later we went eating pizza and pasta and at 7 pm we sat in the church. After waiting another hour the concert had finally started. They started with "Rocky Road to Dublin" and went on with some songs from the new album and made the evening definitely unforgettable. I couldn't sing along to all songs but I  had my brother and my dad screaming the whole songs from their deepest throat so I guess it was ok. :D
After giving an encore with "Irish Rover" the guys ended the show. Darren was pretty concentrated and played his songs. He just "did his job"(Very good by the way). I appreciate concentrated musicians as much as the ones who have fun on stage. Everyone should behave like they feel the music and so they did. Martin had the most fun I guess and Finbarr war very calmed but smiled a lot and just played his guitar. Brian totally freaked out, ran into the audience, had fun and motivated everyone to sing along. I play guitar aswell, thats why I'm very excited for good guitar music and I had a lot of fun. The guys changed the instruments very fast and I was suprised by how many instruments they were able to play. After the show the band stood next to the door and I had the chance to talk to them, which was pretty awesome because the guys are nice as hell! Even though they're pretty small(which actually felt good, because I'm small aswell), they're so nice and friendly I kinda blushed when Brian thanked me and told me to be safe and he'd be happy if I'd come back. Darren and Brian also took time to take a photo with me! :)

All in all the night was amazing and I had a lot of fun and I enjoyed good music by pretty awesome musicians and I would always come back! :)
